In January 1936, John Logie Baird demonstrated a working television to the Royal Institution and by 1932 the BBC was using his system for the world's first public service.

The pictures were received on mass produced TV sets made by the Baird Company. But by 1937 Marconi had developed a different improved system and Bairds was dropped.

However he continued his research on colour and 3D TV, only to die at an early age in 1946 befor ehe could witness the full impact of his vision on the modern world
